AIT National Congress 2025

The 18th AIT National Congress took place from 27 to 29 November 2025 at the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo in Florence, with around 350 professionals (faculty, participants and sponsor representatives) from all over Italy. The Local Organising Committee was chaired by Dr Luisa Petrone of the University of Florence.

The Congress was an important update for all healthcare professionals working in thyroid disease. Topics included the role of iodine supplementation in preventing thyroid disease, new drugs for Graves’ orbitopathy, targeted therapies for advanced thyroid cancer and the new replacement therapy for hypoparathyroidism.

Keynote lectures addressed highly topical issues: the health benefits of healthy architecture, therapeutic advances in Graves’ orbitopathy, and the association between autoimmune thyroid disease and other conditions with the same pathogenesis. CME symposia on multidisciplinary topics completed the programme.

Giving patients a voice

A new feature of this edition was a pre-congress meeting reserved for patients, “AIT Tells. Patients’ voices: doubts, questions and experiences”, attended by more than 70 patients.

Research

As every year, university research was at the heart of the event, with 104 submissions: 80 posters and 24 oral presentations.
