In memoriam
Prof. Claudio Giani
Dear Members and Colleagues, it is with great sorrow that we inform you that Prof. Claudio Giani passed away on 20 July. His colleagues and friends in Pisa endocrinology are united in grief for dear Claudio, a wonderful person who, in 40 years of shared working life, never had a dispute with a colleague.

Claudio was a true gentleman, always elegant, measured and obliging, and always ready to take on responsibilities that brought him no personal advantage. For years he led teaching in endocrinology for medical students and residents, with the esteem of colleagues and students as his only reward. In the specialty school he contributed greatly to training young colleagues, drawing on his knowledge and clinical skills in preparing and discussing clinical cases. With equal enthusiasm, he served for several years as President of the Association of Former Students of Pisa Endocrinology.
Scientifically, he was known for numerous publications on the relationship between breast cancer and thyroid autoimmunity. A fine clinician who loved his work, he was kind, always smiling and available to patients and students. His passing leaves a huge void in our community.
